Hi. I am still reeling from all my amazing christmas gifts, but managed to take some pictures of the highlights…

We were visiting Mr Moe’s grandmother on Christmas Eve day and were chatting about knitting, rug hooking, etc. She disappeared into one of her closets and came back with this hooked rug. It was the first rug she had ever hooked, at the age of 10 in 1935. I told her I thought it was beautiful (she thought it was hideous). Then she gave it to me. I am still gobsmacked. I plan to frame it and hang it on the wall. I love it to pieces2006 also was the year of the jewellery for moi. Among other things, Mr Moe gave me an ammonite necklace that I have been admiring every single time we’ve been to the market for ages. My mom gave me a bracelet and earrings that are fashioned out of old silverware. My MIL gave me silver earrings in a celtic design (along with some fabulous Groman knives and bamboo cutting boards!).
Not to be outdone, my sister gave us a television. I know. A TELEVISION. She got it on sale at Walmart (she is a pharmacist there), but, wow. We can now read subtitles. Our other TV that we’ve had forever was only 13″.

Brace yourselves for this next item, above. From my parents: Eight place settings (!!) and vintage-looking mixing bowls. Serving dishes to match from my aunt. Cute little cheese dish/spreader from my other aunt. Here are the dishes in action last night:
I feel like Martha Stewart.

Check out the cute little hat I knit up using Knit and Tonic’s Natty pattern. God I love Wendy.
In other news, my sister’s new roommate Maggie has been busy. This is what she came home to the other day:
She forgot about a wicker basket she left on the shelf. It took her two hours to get it all cleaned up. She said she’ll send me some cute pictures soon of Maggie and Sophie hanging out together over the holidays (her first attempt to email them to me failed). They fought, wrestled, played, sniffed, and followed each other around for three days. I think we were all exhausted.
